Invitation to a special event on August 21, 2025, at our Rinkenbergerhof field trial station
Research.Field.Practice – Focus on intercropping before corn: field inspection, practical examples, and solutions for climate adaptation in agriculture
How can we make agriculture more sustainable? What strategies can help farmers successfully adapt to the consequences of climate change? And what specific potential does intercropping offer in this regard? Answers to these questions will be provided at the specialist event entitled “Research. Field. Practice.” on Thursday, August 21, 2025, starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Rinkenbergerhof field trials station in Speyer. The event is being hosted by LUFA Speyer together with partners from research, consulting, and agriculture.
The focus will be on intercropping before corn—a key topic in the context of sustainable arable farming systems. The event combines current research results, practical field trials, and agroecological findings into an interactive exchange format for experts and interested parties.
As part of the cross-border research project KLIMACrops, experts from LUFA Speyer, the Augustenberg Agricultural Technology Center (LTZ), the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald District Office, and the French institute ARVALIS Alsace provide insights into the latest developments. In short presentations and practical demonstrations, they will highlight topics such as soil structure and soil health, nutrient efficiency and nitrogen balances, the effects of various cover crop mixtures, and cross-border findings under different climatic conditions.
A special highlight is the field tour with interactive stations, where participants can experience infiltration measurements live and talk directly with researchers. At the end of the event, a joint drink on site invites participants to network and exchange ideas.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Please register at weinmann@lufa-speyer.de. The KLIMACrops research project is part of the EU-funded Interreg Upper Rhine program and strengthens cooperation in the trinational region to make arable farming systems more resilient and climate-friendly. More than 20 partners from France, Germany, and Switzerland are involved in the project. Further information can be found at: www.lufa-speyer.de/projekt-klimacrops.
