Briefly explained

Soil conservation liming

Selective soil protection liming has been carried out in Rhineland-Palatinate since 1983. It is not a fertilization measure, but serves to neutralize acidified forest soils and thus helps to counteract the nutrient depletion of forest soils and the aluminium and heavy metal contamination of groundwater. In the long term, forest soil protection should be achieved. The need for liming is primarily derived from soil chemical properties.

Limes for soil protection liming

Carbonated magnesium lime is usually used. With regard to the lime agents used, legal regulations and their quality criteria must be observed, in particular the Fertilizer Ordinance, environmental law and occupational health and safety.
