Duration: 2025 – 2029

Contact: Dr. Markus Weinmann

Brief description

The increasing use of plastic in agriculture in the Upper Rhine region is causing environmental problems, particularly with regard to soil quality. In the AgriRePlas project, 18 partners from Germany, France, and Switzerland are working on specific solutions to help farmers use plastic more consciously.

The cross-border project involves mapping risky applications, conducting tests on working farms, identifying biodegradable alternatives, and providing solutions via a multilingual information platform. Close cooperation between agricultural, scientific, and institutional stakeholders aims to optimize reuse and recycling and reduce environmental damage.

In the long term, tried-and-tested solutions will be made available to farms in the Upper Rhine region. These include improved access to suitable materials, practical recommendations, and cross-border exchange among experts.
