About us

Agricultural Inspection and Research Institute (LUFA) Speyer

We are an independant enterprise of the Palatinate District Association with the purpose of ensuring the economical, environmentally friendly and high-quality production of food, animal feed and renewable raw materials.

Our team has broad expertise in the field of agricultural and environmental analysis: Soils, seeds, fertilizers, feedstuff, water, plants and produce such as fruit and vegetables are tested for a wide range of value-adding and value-reducing ingredients. On the one hand, we carry out official tests for the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland and advise the relevant ministries and authorities. We also analyze samples for agricultural businesses, other private companies and private individuals.

At the “Rinkenbergerhof” field trial station in the north of Speyer, we also carry out trials as part of applied agricultural research. You can find out more about our research and development activities here.

You can find our master data here.

Cooperation with BOLAP GmbH

After a project and development phase in the early 2000s, we have been offering comprehensive analyses for pesticide residues and their degradation products in vegetables and fruit for agricultural businesses and trading companies in cooperation with BOLAP GmbH since 2006, particularly in the pre-harvest stage.

For agriculture, the environment and consumer protection since 1875

The LUFA Speyer was founded in 1875 under the name “Agrikulturchemische Versuchsstation des Kreiscomittés des Landwirtschaftlichen Vereins der Pfalz”. In 1902, the institution was transferred to the Palatinate District Council (the name of today's Palatinate District Association). In 1993, the LUFA became an independent enterprise of the Palatinate District Association. Then as now, agriculture, the environment and consumer protection are at the heart of our work.
